Babies gone feral

Untamed baby mobs toddle amok in testing!

BEWARE! There’s new batch of baby mobs on the loose testing! I’m not sure if I am warning you because they are feral or because the cuteness is simply TOO MUCH FOR MY HEART. Both? Both! Just like the new versions of baby farm mobs, baby mounts, and aquatic babies have already proven, there’s a reason this is our cutest game drop yet!

From tundra to desert, let’s track these wild baby mobs down in Java snapshot and Bedrock beta/preview and find out if at least some of them are tameable!

The golden dandelion is in testing for both Java and Bedrock now, which means we can all keep these babies young and cute FOREVER!

Icy Minecraft biome at sunset. A player stands on frozen water near a baby polar bear and white baby foxes. Tall ice spikes rise behind them, and the low sun reflects on the ice surface.

Baby polar bear

Would you look at that! A fluffy iceberg on legs! The big-pawed baby polar bear has gone full marshmallow mode looking chunkier and more huggable than ever. Or did I make up that last bit? But if not teddy, why teddy-shaped? Ehhh, maybe because their scary parents attack if you get too close... gotta run!

Baby fox

Oooh, did you see a puff of orange or white bounce past? It must have been a baby fox, expert in both naps and gentle mischief. With fluffy tails and puffy paws, these little ones might look innocent, but can leap surprisingly high and, as adults, become quite the hunters. Word is, if you feed two adult foxes some glow berries, you’ll end up with a tame baby! Naming it Sir Snooze-a-Lot is optional, but highly recommended.

Close-up of an orange baby fox in green grass looking up at a baby bee flying above. White and orange flowers surround them.

Baby bee

With giant eyes and two fuzzy stripes, the new baby bee bumbles around like a drop of honey with wings, only pausing to soak up some nectar. Obviously, I’m POWERLESS against this level of adorableness!! Need. To. Hug. But hang on, can you also hear that violent buzzing growing louder?! Swarm incoming! WHY am I like this?

Three baby camels, an adul camel, and two pink baby armadillos stand near a small wooden shelter with lanterns in the desert as the square sun sits low in a cloudy sky.

Baby camel

Ah! I spot our smiliest baby – now hump-free, like in real life! I know baby camels can’t be tamed, but they’re friendly, so I’ll still name mine Dusty and hope it’ll let me ride it when it grows up! Lighter in color and smaller, these desert delights are so cute you might think it’s a mirage seeing one splooting down for a rest or toddling after its lanky parents.

Baby armadillo

Hard shell, soft baby! That’s our armad-orable baby 'dillo, now with only two stripes. Ugh, HOW am I supposed to get to the end of this article when this little pinkish baby scuttles across the savannas and badlands looking this teeny!? I tried petting it, but it just rolled up, which makes me want to pet it even MORE! *Think about how it eats spider eyes, THINK ABOUT HOW IT EATS SPIDER EYES* – yes, that worked! I just have to steer clear of looking at its tiny tippy-toes–NOOOOOOOOO!

A Minecraft player walks in front of two baby llamas and a white baby goat at sunset. Blocky trees and buildings sit nearby. Warm light from the square sun casts long shadows.

Baby llama

I spy, with my cuddle-hungry eyes, a herd of wooly baby llamas on noodle legs! My instincts scream “HUG!” but something makes me hesitate? Could it be them spitting right in my face? But baby llamas ARE tameable! You just need to feed them wheat before trying to pet them... I’ll just bring all four color variants home and hope for the best!

Baby goat

Ah, there it is! Thankfully, our final wild baby mob, because I don’t think my heart can handle more. But the mountain's tiniest fluff tornado – rocking its stumpy horns and no beard – might still be too much for me ! No... I will not be fooled by the baby goat’s charm! I’ve heard they pack a full 4.5 block punch (well, headbutt). Still, I lunge, arms wide, wheat wagging, ready for goat hugs. BAM! Headbutted off my feet to the sound of an echoing bleat.

Baby mobs: 7, Linn: 0

How can I test these features?

You can test these features by enabling snapshots for Minecraft: Java Edition, or by enabling previews/beta* for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. To turn on an experiment in preview/beta for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition follow these instructions.

Send us your feedback!

These features are all still in development, which means that the details outlined above might change as we iterate on them. So then why have we released them into testing? Because we want your feedback! Send us your feedback and report bugs at bugs.mojang.com!

*New features are coming in the future and will require Minecraft Bedrock Edition or Java Edition (each sold separately).
